Boston Scores held an official ribbon cutting ceremony for their new mini-pitch on Friday, July 30. The mini-pitch is the first program space to be activated as part of the $15 million investment by Boston Scores in East Boston. In partnership with the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, the first phase of the project also includes renovating office and classroom space in the club. The second phase of the project includes the construction of a multi-field soccer complex, field house, outdoor classroom, playground, community garden and walking track.
The mini-pitch was made possible through gifts and donations from the Mark and Sarah Williamson family, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Major League Soccer Players Foundation, and Musco Lighting.
