Inspired Art is a fundraiser for Boston Scores that invites local artists to create and donate an original work of art inspired by poetry written by Boston Scores students.

Community artists review poems composed by Boston Scores 4th-6th grade Poet-Athletes. Selecting one poem as their inspiration, each creator contributes a piece in their favored medium (pencil, ink, oil, photography, sculpture, etc.). Artwork is displayed alongside the original poem at the event.

Guests at Inspired Art have the opportunity to view this unique creative collaboration that amplifies both youth voice and the local arts community. Artwork is auctioned during the event, with all proceeds supporting Boston Scores’ free programs.

The event features over 40 original works of art as well as a short speaking program and the performance of an original poem by a Boston Scores Poet-Athlete.

About Out Poetry Program

In addition to playing on a soccer team, Boston Scores’ elementary school-aged students learn how to read, interpret, write and perform poetry.

Through the Power of Poetry and Writing for the Community curricula, students not only have the chance to use poetry to share their personal experiences but also learn how to use their voice to address and raise awareness on issues that they identify in their community.
