How are we doing?

At Boston Scores we are dedicated to improving our programming for students, parents, coaches, and the greater Boston community. Part of that process is figuring out what we’re doing well, and what we can improve on. Here is some recent information we’re using to inform our organization’s trajectory!

Our Impact

Students participate in Scores from approximately 40 schools from kindergarten through high school graduation.

1690 students were served in the 2017-2018 school year.

For the 2018-2019 school year, we have the capacity to serve 2030 students.

Parent Surveys

In the spring of 2018 we began surveying parents on how to improve our programming through the Fund for Shared Insight initiative, Listen for Good.

We’ve spent the last year collecting responses, and here is some of what we’ve learned:

Mentorship

  • 96% agree:
Boston Scores treats my child with respect
  • 79% agree:
Students have strong connections with their Coach-Mentors

Student Growth

  • 55% agree:
My child has been eating more healthy foods
  • 68% agree:
My child has a more positive attitude towards school
  • 82% agree:
    My child has more self-confidence

Room for Improvement

We also surveyed parents on what improvements they would make to Boston Scores.

  • 24% of feedback focused on communication and logistics, particularly around game schedules and weather-related cancellations

Here’s what we changed:

Posted game cancellations and schedule changes on our Facebook and Twitter accounts each week

Dedicated a section of our website to Game Day schedules for each school

And last but not least:

Continue to listen to parents and make changes based on their feedback!
